What is functional medicine and how is it different than my primary care provider?

Functional medicine is the art and science of biologic integration. We understand and recognize that problems within human physiology don’t occur due to dysfunction in single, isolated systems. We treat patients from a comprehensive and integrative standpoint as our focus is treating the patient, not just their labs.

Why don’t you take insurance?

The conventional medical model is based on disease management via symptom regulation. Labs and medications are based upon “medical necessity” as dictated by the insurance provider of the patient. Therefore, medical providers are often limited in how much time they can spend with patients, which tests can be run, and what treatment options are available.

As such, we do not actively accept insurance or Medicare as our providers choose to spend more time with patients and run what is needed, rather than what is permitted.

We can provide patients with superbills to submit for insurance reimbursement. However, we will not directly correspond with any insurance company as this would limit the amount of time and resources we can offer patients.

How much does it cost?

– Initial Appointment: $95

Treatment cost is highly variable depending upon diagnostic testing, length of treatment, treatment modalities, and each patient’s individual needs. Cost is always discussed with patients during an initial visit to ensure the best use of all available financial resources.

How does this work?

To get started, call the office directly @ 704-625-2994 and our support staff will guide you through the process to schedule an initial consultation with our care team.

Is testing done in office?

No, we do not perform any laboratory testing at the office. Serum testing can be completed at any Labcorp location but stool, urine, and saliva kits can be completed in the comfort of your own home. Our staff will assist you with initial and follow-up testing while also providing digital and print resources to assist in the completion of all testing.

What do I need to bring to my initial appointment?

We request that patients bring any recent lab work completed within the last 6-12 months. Additional diagnostic testing will be needed but prior results can help to establish a baseline and rule out contributing factors. Also, please ensure that you have completed all the necessary digital intake forms prior to your appointment.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! We’ll schedule your appointment at a time when your spouse, significant other or parents (if you are a minor) can come with you, so be sure to have their schedule in mind when booking. This consultation is going to be the start of a life-changing journey, so they need to be with you.
