Dr. Corey Riser, D.C., C.F.M.P.
Founder
Dr. Corey Riser has spent almost a decade practicing as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner with over 300 hours of post-doctoral Functional Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition education.
Originally from Zanesville, Ohio, Dr. Riser began his work in alternative medicine through his award-winning Undergraduate Thesis study on Bacteriophage Therapy of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as a preferred treatment method over traditional antibiotics.
While attending graduate school, Dr. Riser’s passion for alternative medicine developed after the passing of his grandmother, mother, and father in a two-year span. He watched as conventional medicine treatment with drug therapy and a lack of nutritional guidance continued time and time again to fail his family members and ultimately led to untimely deaths. It was at this time that he redirected his efforts toward Functional Medicine education.
In 2017, Dr. Riser founded Functional Health Center of the Carolinas, a highly regarded Functional Medicine clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has quickly become one of the most sought after “Chronic Disease Reversal” clinics in the region.
As the Founder, the focus of Dr. Riser’s practice is primarily Functional Medicine treatment of Type II Diabetes, Thyroid Disorders, Cognitive Decline, and Autoimmune disease. Dr. Riser has made it a priority to help the Carolina region combat a devastatingly high incidence of chronic disease and obesity through Functional Medicine and nutraceutical interventions. As such, Dr. Riser has treated and helped thousands of patients regain their health.

Lauren M. Lewis, FNP-C
Direct Primary Care and Aesthetics Director
Originally from Kinston, NC, Lauren became interested in health and wellness at a young age, watching her father coach middle school sports and her mother implement activity and wellness into their daily lives. She obtained a degree in exercise physiology and biology and worked as a wellness coach and exercise specialist at a local wellness center. Desiring to help patients further with a comprehensive approach to care, Lauren decided to pursue a second degree in nursing. She worked at Duke University Hospital where she saw the benefits of collaboration between modern medicine and holistic approaches that yielded long-term results and ultimately happier, healthier patients. She worked as a nurse until she completed her masters degree and became a certified family nurse practitioner.
Lauren has experience in a variety of health fields, including primary care, orthopedics, regenerative medicine, and aesthetics. She is thrilled to be a part of the team at FHCC where she can offer affordable primary care and aesthetic treatments to the people of Fort Mill and the surrounding area.
